Occidental (Ox) is a punk-rock cocktail bar in Denver that has recently become known as a sports-haven for fans of New York teams. Ox is also one of the flag ship industry bars in Denver-- my job was to bring these two stories together into a design that bartenders and Rangers fans would be proud to wear.
I wanted this shirt to remind the wearer that when they're at Ox, they're home. The bar's motto, "We are here to drink beer. We are here to kill war", a Bukowski quote, is written on one of the ceiling beams. It was one of the first things I noticed on my first visit and I knew it had to be on the shirt!
Some special touches:
- The three tears and sewn up heart are dedicated to people affiliated with Ox who have been lost over the years.
- Red & Blue border, the colors of the NY Giants & NY Rangers
- 201, the area code of New Jersey, where the owners are from.
- 303, the Denver zip code crossed with Ox, to show that they're a part of each other.
-NGGYUNGLYD... well, thats a Rick Roll.
